If you read the article you’d see that France, a major contributor to ESA, did in fact send a monkey into space. So did NASA and the Russian Space Agency among other animals. Iirc the first living animal in space was a Russian dog.

I read the wiki entry, did you ?. France sent a monkey to space in 1967. The ESA has never done so. And just because Nasa and the Russians do something (which mostly happened in and around 50 years ago while animal testing was the norm) hardly makes it acceptable to do now. The testing of animals that went on then has largely been stopped because its unnecessarily cruel.

Are you actually saying technological advancement is a bad thing though? I can agree there have been some negative results due to it but you have to make some mistakes to get it right. Technology is moving along far too quickly. So fast we don’t even know what we’re actually doing or damaging. This is just in the last 10 years: We have companies now mass marketing and producing a scary amount of genetically modified crops, something that we don’t have a notion of the ill effects. We have huge amounts of radiation that we are now putting our bodies through, 3G (soon to be 4g), wifi, wireless devices, radio waves and the likes, all this is being streamlined before proper testing is completed. And don’t send me a link to some federal website proving there completely safe either.
We are being littered with technology to such a level and speed that’s its just plain unsustainable and stupendous.

If we keep expanding technology, don’t think our grandchildren will have great lives. It’s deep but true, think about it.
