Man released in probe into suspicious death of woman in Waterford

A woman was found dead on a roundabout on the outskirts of the city early on Sunday morning.

A MAN WHO was arrested in connection with the suspicious death of a woman in Waterford over the weekend has been released without charge.

The 29-year-old man was being held in connection with the suspicious death on the outskirts of Waterford city in the early hours of Sunday morning. He was released earlier this morning.

A file is now being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

A 35-year-old Lithuanian woman, named locally as Zana Allen, was discovered with head injuries at a roundabout on the outskirts of the city in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The woman was still alive when discovered on the Cousebridge roundabout on the city’s outer ring road.

She was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital where she later died.

Gardaí say the investigation is continuing.
