Man due in court over suspicious death of Irish wife in Netherlands

The circumstances of the woman’s death have been described as suspicious.

A MAN IS in due to appear in court this morning in connection with the death of his wife, an Irish woman, in the Netherlands.

The body of the 64-year-old woman was found at her home on Savornin Lohman Street in the city of ‘s-Hertogenbosch (Den Bosch) on Monday. Dutch police have said her husband was in the house when police arrived and was taken into custody.

They have declined to comment on the cause of the woman’s death, but the circumstances have been described as suspicious.

Neighbours told local news website Brabants Dagblad the couple’s house had been sold recently and they were planning to move to Ireland. One local resident said the man was “very calm and always up for a chat while walking the dog”.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to the Irish woman’s family.
