A 78-YEAR-OLD man has died in a house fire in the North Strand area of Dublin.

The fire broke out on Hibernian Avenue, off Ossary Road, last night.

A Garda spokesperson confirmed that emergency services responded to a call-out at around 9pm last night.

The man, who was the only occupant of the house, was taken from the building but pronounced dead in the Mater Hospital a short time later.

Crews from North Strand and HQ fought a fire in a house off Ossary Road after 9pm yesterday evening. Despite best efforts of Firefighter/Paramedics including advanced life support on scene the man (70s) died in hospital. The blaze is not being treated as suspicious. An examination of the scene is being conducted today.
