Clerys building to get an extra floor and glass atrium

The Clerys building is to undergo a refurbishment and restoration with works including cleaning up the Portland stone facade, restoring the feature double staircase and the addition of an extra rooftop level and glass atrium, according to plans published on Dublin City Council’s website.

An agreement has been reached regarding government’s rent cap proposal

Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil yesterday reached an agreement on the government’s proposed rent plan. Dublin and Cork will become rent pressure zones where rent increases will be limited to 4% per year and other areas will be examined for possible future inclusion.

  • Nearly 80,000 mortgages are in arrears in Ireland according to a recent figures from the Central Bank. This amounts to almost 11% of mortgages (79,562 of 738,506 private residential mortgage accounts as of September 2016).
  • Renters are most concerned about not being able to afford rent increases according to a report by housing charity Threshold. The charity is calling for national certification on rental properties, similar to the NCT for vehicles.
