PSNI believe explosion in Antrim linked to dissident terrorist activity

Meanwhile, detectives from PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch are currently attending to another security alert in the same area.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland now believe that an explosion in Larne, Co Antrim at around 11pm last night may be linked to dissident terrorist activity. The explosion caused damage to a fence in the area.

Detectives from the PSNI’s Serious Crime Branch are now investigating the cause of the explosion and are currently attending to another security alert in the same area following a report of a suspicious object in the Britannia Crescent area of the town.

Army technical officers have been tasked and Britannia Crescent has been closed at its junction with the Seahill Road.

There are no further details at this stage.
