ST VINCENT’S HOSPITAL in Dublin has urged members of the public to stay away unless absolutely necessary after an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.
The hospital joins Beaumont Hospital in issuing an appeal for people to stay away unless it is essential and unavoidable after an outbreak of the winter vomiting bug.
Visitors should stick to normal visiting hours, the hospitals advise, but children should not be brought to the hospitals under any circumstances.
Some 100 staff and patients at both hospitals have been affected by the outbreak according to the Irish Times with a number of beds closed as a result in order to contain the outbreak of the contagious norovirus.
Symptoms include vomiting, diarrhoea, and abdominal pain.
