A man has been arrested and police say they are not looking for anyone else.

Updated 3.36 pm

SHOTS WERE FIRED by US military service personnel and a man was arrested at an incident at an RAF base in the UK this afternoon.

RAF Mildenhall was put on lockdown for a period and the man who was detained suffered cuts and bruises.

Suffolk Police say they responded to reports of the incident at about 1.40 pm this afternoon and now have the man in custody.

Police remain at the scene but have said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.

BBC News is reporting that the man apparently tried to drive through a checkpoint.

RAF Mildenhall is used primarily by the US Air Force. Suffolk Police confirmed that shots were fired by US personnel during the incident.

No other persons were injured.

Police had closed off the area and asked people to stay away but have now said there is “no ongoing threat” to the community.
