Wanted man arrested over alleged false imprisonment

The 47-year-old convict was on-the-run from gardaí when he was discovered in a hospital.

DETECTIVES INVESTIGATING AN alleged incident of false imprisonment of a young woman in Dublin last Sunday have arrested a 47-year-old man.

The suspect is known to gardaí and was also wanted on separate charges. He is currently being questioned in relation to the attempted attack near Dorset Street.

He was detained this morning in the Beaumont area of Dublin shortly after 9am. It is understood he was in hospital and gardaí were waiting for him to discharge himself before making the arrest.

He is currently being held at Mountjoy Garda Station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

According to a report by Ken Foy in yesterday’s Herald newspaper, the manhunt was established after a woman escaped an attacker by jumping out of a hotel room window. The suspect has already served time in prison for kidnap and sexual assault.
