  • And I’m not implying this young man was a moron. It’s very heartbreaking for his family. We really need to do something to stop these senseless tragedies which repeat themselves over and over. R.I.P.

  • This is ridiculous , kids are dying and nobody will do anything about it , why not restrict under 25 males to 1L engine size and put tags in the engines to monitor them , draconian I know but people are dying

  • Very sad indeed and R.I.P to the young man concerned in my eyes restricting engine size does not come into it, it’s not what you drive it’s how you drive it & the roads you drive on. our prayers go with the familys involved lately as every time I log on to the journal.ie I read another story of a life lost, I my opinion more needs to be done on driver training the test in Ireland is way to easy and maybe introduce further restrictions on novice drivers like other parts of the world however this isn’t the spot to discuss it, once again rest in peace and our condolences to the family’s involved

  • How do you sort out the morons from the sensible drivers till it’s too late? Maybe a speed limit on those twisty narrow minor roads and a restricted plate for the first year after passing the test – with restrictions that are enforced! And, yes, a governor and engine size restrictions seem like a good idea too.

  • There is a family whose son, brother will not be coming home. He is not the first nor sadly the last to be taken in this way. There is no where here that it says this was over 1 lt . you can be killed off a pushbike if you don’t know how to use it. Education is the key in my opinion. I might like to point put that no where does it day this young man caused this crash and we might do well to remember there are older dangerous drivers too. I have lost family and friends in RTAs – no two are the same and no two are down to the same reason. It is easy to jump on the young stupid driver bandwagon given the statistics but maybe it would be nice for a change to keep an open mind .

  • i agree with Don,theres far too many deaths on the roads,it doesent matter how many restrictions are put in place (nobody will adhere to them anyway) there will still be accidents. people both young and older need to drive responsibly, might not be a bad idea to have driving training programmes in schools. RIP to this young man my thoughts and prayers are with his family.
