GARDAÍ IN DUBLIN have issued a public appeal for witnesses to an assault on Parnell Street in the early hours of Sunday morning, after which a 51-year-old woman died.

The incident occurred outside a fast food outlet at around 3:15am, when a female member of a group – described as being in her 20s – became involved in an altercation with another 51-year-old woman.

The younger woman is described as wearing a dark jacket, a black miniskirt or shorts with black tights, and a sparkling top which may have been pink in colour. She was also carrying a black shoulder-length bag.

The call for witnesses comes after the 51-year-old was found dead in a flat in the north inner city yesterday evening.

Her body was found at a flat at Liberty House, on Railway Street in Dublin 1, at around 7pm last night.

Anyone with information on the deceased, or who may have witnessed the incident on Parnell Street, is asked to contact Gardaí at Store Street station on (01) 666 8000.

They can also call the Garda confidential line at 1800 666 111, or visit any Garda station.
