Man's body found in search for man off Wexford coast
The Courtown search began yesterday morning.

Updated at 1.45pm

A BODY HAS been found in the search off the Wexford coast for a man who was last seen on Sunday evening.

The search was being conducted by the Courtown RNLI Lifeboat, the Dublin-based Coast Guard helicopter and the Coast Guard unit.

The search was being carried out for a 33-year-old man said to be from the Myshall area in Carlow.

The search began yesterday morning at about 4.30am after the man’s car was found abandoned on the south pier in Courtown. His family had also contacted authorities.

Weather conditions hampered the search teams yesterday, with the search beginning in the morning before it was stood down at 11am.

The search resumed again yesterday evening at low water and Sam Kennedy of Courtown RNLI said that crews continued to search while light was still available.

Weather conditions were reported to be more favourable this morning.

Gardaí were also involved in the search.
