Customs make crystal meth seizure worth €250k at Dublin Airport

Officers also seized €9,500 in cash in separate operation at the capital’s airport yesterday.

CRYSTAL METHAMPHETAMINE worth an estimated quarter-of-a-million euro was seized at Dublin Airport today in joint operation carried out by the Gardaí and officers from the Revenue Customs Service .

Approximately 2.5 kilogrammes of the drug, which is also known as ‘Ice’ or ‘Yaba’, was seized after it was discovered concealed in the framework of two suit cases that were being caried by a 39-year-old male who arrived in Dublin from Lesotho in Africa.

The man was turned over to Gardaí for questioning and is set to appear in court later today.

In separate operation carried out yesterday, officers from Revenue seized €9,500 in cash from a 25-year-old Polish man who had arrived on a flight from Warsaw in Poland.

Officers were granted a three-month detention order at the Dublin Criminal Court this morning in order to carry out further investigations.
