  • Gardaí are investigating the possibility of a dissident republican link involved in the fatal shooting of a 53-year-old man in Clondalkin, Dublin, yesterday.
  • The owner of the Rostrevor House nursing home Sarah Lipsett has the allegations that one of the carers at the home abused residents were “absolutely unfounded”. Her comments came as the Circuit Court rejected an application challenging aspects of the District Court ruling last week, which handed control of the facility to the HSE.
  • Kate Middleton and the former British Prime Minster Tony Blair are among the names now being linked to the News International phone hacking scandal, following allegations that public figures had their bank account details accessed by a private investigator hired by the newsgroup.
