EIGHT-YEAR-OLD KELLY MCCABE has been crowned winner of the Doodle 4 Google competition.

The Scoil Carmel Junior National School student will now have her worked, titled “My Adventure”, displayed on Google Ireland’s homepage this coming Wednesday.

“What I was also impressed by was the level of enthusiasm for the competition in Ireland,” professional Google doodler Katy Wu said.

We run Doodle 4 Google in many countries across the world but number and quality of the entries from Irish students was outstanding.

The competition is now in its sixth year, and head of Google in Ireland John Herlihy says he continues “to be overwhelmed each year by the level of public interest shown”

Over 120,000 public votes were recorded, with 2,390 students entering the competition.

There were also four other group winners of the competition, you can see the full list of finalists online here.
