Co-opted onto Wicklow County Council in 2003 after she failed to secure a seat in 1999, she served on the council until 2009. A TD since 2011, she was briefly expelled from the Labour Party last year for voting against the government on a bill which called for the legalisation of abortion in the case of fatal foetal abnormalities. She is vice-chairperson of the Justice, Equality and Defence Committee.
I provide a strong voice in national politics for people who often can't speak up for themselves. I stand for fairness, equality, and justice.
I want the residents of Wicklow and East Carlow to feel safe in their homes and on their streets, unemployment to continue to fall and families to prosper.
I want to continue the work I started in this government for adopted people and their parents, for victims of domestic violence and for people facing retirement.
