First elected as a Fine Gael TD for Carlow-Kilkenny in 1989, Phil Hogan has represented the constituency for the past 21 years. During that time, Hogan has held a variety of positions within the party, including his most recent role as opposition spokesman on Environment, Heritage and Local Government. He is currently Fine Gael's National Director of Elections.

    Phil Hogan , one of the decent gentlemen of Irish politics, he’ll be Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government in the Custom House after this election.
