      Senator Joe O'Reilly has been picked by Fine Gael to challenge for a seat in Cavan-Monaghan. A qualified national school teacher, O'Reilly first entered the political arena when he was elected to Cavan County Council in 1985. Having served in the Seanad from 1989-1992, O'Reilly was reelected for a second term in 2007 and is currently the party's spokesperson on Energy, Communications and Natural Resources.
