In search of his fifth term of office, outgoing deputy Tommy Broughan has been selected by the Labour Party to contest the election in Dublin North-East. Broughan was first elected as a TD in 1992 and has been returned at each subsequent election. Since then, he has been appointed as Labour’s national spokesperson in a variety of portfolios including his recent spell as transport spokesperson. Broughan was also a member of the Public Accounts Committee for an eight-year period.
