Michael Kennedy is an outgoing Fianna Fáil TD for Dublin North. Kennedy first won election to Fingal County Council in 1991 and was subsequently reelected in 1999 and 2004. Following an unsuccessful general election campaign in 2002, the former insurance broker topped the poll in Dublin North in 2007, gaining almost 20 per cent of first-preference votes.
