Senator Alex White is the Labour Party nominee as they attempt to win their first seat in Dublin South since 1992. A barrister and former RTE producer, White has been the party's best hope in recent years, receiving almost 20 per cent of first-preference votes in the constituency's 2009 by-election. White was elected by the Seanad's Cultural and Educational Panel in 2007, and he is currently the party leader in the Seanad. He is also Labour's national spokesperson on Children.
