      Mullingar councillor Peter Burke is one of three Fine Gael candidates running in Longford-Westmeath. Burke was unsuccessful in his 2007 general election run when he only managed to secure 7 per cent of the constituency's first preferences. He was elected to Westmeath County Council in June 2009.
