Enda Kenny

1
Party: Fine Gael
Constituency: Mayo
Date of Birth: 24/04/1951

Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny will once again defend his seat as a representative of the people of Mayo. The 59-year-old has been a permanent feature in Dáil Eireann since his victory in a 1975 by-election held to fill the seat left vacant in the constituency by the death of his father, Henry. Under the terms of the rainbow coalition formed in 1994, Kenny was appointed as Minister for Tourism and Trade, a post which he held until 1997. He has been party leader of Fine Gael since 2002, most recently surviving an attempt by Richard Bruton to oust him from the position in June 2010.

I say let’s give him and his clearly talented front bench a chance. Ok he’s not talismanic and could do with some steel but this isn’t about personalities, it’s about progressive policies and value for money.

ENDA IS MORE OF A CHAIRMAN THAN A LEADER IN THE TRADITIONAL SENSE ABLE TO DELEGATE AND KNOWS HIS LIMITS AND STRENGHTS.
