The 2011 general election is Fine Gael councillor Regina Doherty's second attempt at winning a Dáil seat in Meath East . Her haul of over 10 per cent of first-preference votes was not enough to see her over the line when she partnered Shane McEntee in the constituency in 2007. At present, she is a serving member of Meath County Council following her success in the June 2009 local elections.
