Mayo-born councillor Jenny McHugh has been selected as Labour's candidate in the Meath West constituency. McHugh has served on Meath County Council since June 2009 when she was elected by the Navan electoral area. McHugh has worked as principal of St Stephen’s N.S in Johnstown, Navan since 2003.

One of McHugh's hobbies is the taking her shiatsu dogs to exhibitions around the country.
