      Councillor Conal Kavanagh is a Labour Party candidate in Wicklow. Kavanagh's career as a local politician began in 2000 when he was elected to Wicklow Town Council, a body which he appointed as Mayor of in 2006/2007. He has also been a sitting member of Wicklow County Council since 2004. Kavanagh studied business at DCU.

      Kavanagh's father, Liam, was a Labour Party deputy in Dáil Eireann for 28 years from 1969 to 1997.
