MEMBERS OF AN Garda Síochana will not receive their allowances or overtime payments for November until the new year, it was revealed today.

A spokesperson for the Garda Representative Association (GRA) told that Garda allowances and overtime have been paid monthly in arrears over the last few years.

In a statement, GRA Vice President Dermot O’Brien said that over recent years “a legacy has developed whereby allowances and overtime earned in November – which should be paid in December – are held over until January”.

“We are engaging with officials in another attempt to remedy the time discrepancy – which can be as much as 56 days,” he said.
