THE PSNI HAS unconditionally released a 44 year old man who was arrested by detectives from PSNI Serious Crime Branch investigating the murder of Kevin Kearney.
Kearney, a 46-year-old father of four was found in a lake in Alexandra Park last week. He was shot just after bringing his daughter to school.
Police described the killing as cold-blooded and a group identifying themselves as “the IRA” claimed responsibility for the shooting the following day.
On Tuesday police returned to the scene of the crime with an actor resembling Kearney. They hoped to jog the memory of witnesses who may have been in the park at the time.
Kearney’s brother Martin appealed for help in catching his brother’s killers. He said that Kevin’s family were “destroyed” by his murder.
“It has torn us apart. We are devastated,” he said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact detectives at the Incident Room in Musgrave Street police station on 0845 600 8000.
