IT’S THE PROGRAMME that had everyone talking.
RTÉ’s exclusive interview, courtesy of broadcaster Trevor Birney, with convicted drugs-mule Michaella McCollum on Sunday evening attracted 550,000 viewers and set the scene for a barrage of media comment.
But not everyone was overly enamoured with the interview’s tone and style. Twitter opinion in the aftermath of the programme was decidedly mixed at best. And it seems people who contacted RTÉ directly were no less impressed.
“We have received 89 email or phone interactions as a result of the programme as at close of business Monday,” an RTÉ spokesman told TheJournal.ie.
That feedback has been mostly negative.
There have been no official complaints as things stand, as anyone contacting the station with feedback is referred to its dedicated complaints procedure should they wish to take their complaint to the next level.
“That is not to say that there won’t be complaints, but there are none at present,” the spokesman said.
The process of collating any complaints “could take weeks” he added.
