National food survey unveils Ireland's favourite dish

IT’S HARD TO BEAT A classic, or so Irish people appear to think when it comes to food.
For the second year in a row, a national food survey has shown that the traditional Irish dish of bacon and cabbage is the most popular meal in the country.
The survey also reveals that most people regularly cook at home.
Eighty-seven per cent of respondents said they regularly prepare meals at home – a nine per cent increase on last year’s results.
Three-quarters of those polled said they were conscious of supporting local and Irish food suppliers.
Over 400 people around the country were questioned for the survey, which was commissioned by Aramark Ireland as part of its Celebrate Irish Food Fortnight promotion to highlight the use of Irish food products in restaurants.
