PHOTOS: Just some dolphins and whales hanging out off Wexford

A group of photographers had a pretty successful expedition off Hook Head at the weekend…

WE’VE ESTABLISHED at this stage that while there aren’t too many dolphins that make a point of hanging around particular parts of Ireland (aside from Fungi, obviously) there are still a pretty high number of dolphins in Irish waters at any one time.

But still, a group of photographers who headed out to sea over the weekend to try and spot some dolphins off Hook Head got a pleasant surprise when they came across a pod of no fewer than 50 dolphins in the Wexford waters.

The dolphins were accompanied by no fewer than nine whales, who can also be seen in some of Miley Carroll’s photos below.

Miley tells us that news of the sightings – which were featured on RTÉ’s Nationwide this evening – has already brought a surge of new whalespotters to the region to head on similar tours.
