Eddie Punch lives in Cratloe, where he runs a farm. He has a degree in European Studies and prioritises climate, local business, transport, tourism, agriculture and immigration. He opposes what he describes as the "marginalisation of Shannon Airport" and the use of hotels in Clare to accommodate refugees.
I am ambitious for Clare but I feel that the county has been let down, on health and special needs, on Shannon airport, on infrastructure and investment.
We need to fix our healthcare, stop wasteful expenditure, respect the taxpayers’ money and support those who work hard, pay for everything and are not being listened to. Also, the cost of living needs to be controlled and houses should be affordable to our citizens.
I stand for people who work hard, pay for everything and aren’t being heard. I want to stop the waste of taxpayers’ money and I want full accountability for all excess and wasteful expenditures including children’s hospitals. If this was managed properly, we could have the funds for a brand new A&E hospital in Ennis, which is urgently needed. I want, as a priority, to deal with disability, mental health, special needs assessments on time to ensure that all can live their best lives possible and reach their potential at all stages of their lives.
