Clarke has been a Sinn Féin TD for Longford-Westmeath since 2020. She is the party spokesperson on education. She was a Westmeath County councillor for five years, before losing her seat in the 2019 local elections. She is a qualified accountant.
After almost 5 years of proudly representing the people of Longford Westmeath, I want to continue to be a voice in the Dáil for their needs and also their hopes for the future.
Housing. It is having a hugely detrimental impact on so many people's lives and so many aspects of our society - from homelessness and Santa coming shortly to children in homeless accommodation again this year, young adults considering emigrating because they are still in their parents' boxrooms, the ability of businesses to expand or invest in our rural counties and the sense of hopelessness many who need a home express to me.
My first speech in 2020 was at the start of the pandemic and I spoke of the impact on local businesses and their fight for survival. If re-elected, I would like my first speech to be on delivery of proper services for children with disabilities.
