Campion has lived in Longford for nearly a decade. He has volunteered with the Irish Red Cross, and campaigned for a Yes Vote in the 2015 Marriage Equality Referendum. He was also involved in organising the inaugural Longford Pride parade. He ran in the 2024 local elections.

I have been working on the ground as an activist for Sinn Féin for a long time. I see the struggles that cross every generation in Longford and Westmeath. I believe Longford and Westmeath have been badly represented and along with my colleague Sorca Clarke, we can represent the people who continue to be left out - the ordinary hard-working people of Ireland.

Housing is the greatest issue to face this country. The effects can be felt right across society. Emigration has become a hot topic because of the inability of this generation to rent or buy a home. Over 4,000 children in Ireland are homeless in the run-up to this Christmas - a shameful stat that should shame the outgoing government.

The need for equality across society. We need to strive to be the country we were destined to be at the formation of this state. The Republic guarantees religious and civil liberty, equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens, and declares its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and of all its parts, cherishing all of the children of the nation equally.
