Barry Heneghan was elected to Dublin City Council in 2024. He prioritises issues facing young people in Ireland, including housing, and access to education.
The issues I am passionate about cannot be fully addressed at the local level. Now more than ever, Dublin Bay North needs a young, independent voice to put people ahead of party politics. My campaign focuses on tackling real problems that affect our community every day.
The housing crisis is the greatest challenge Ireland faces today. My generation is locked out of homeownership. We must reform planning laws, aim to build over 60,000 homes annually, adopt modern methods like modular construction, and increase vacant and derelict property taxes to bring more homes to market and meet urgent demand.
I would address the failures of previous governments to solve the housing crisis, advocate for better disability rights for children with autism and the lack of SNAs, and push for reform in mental health services.
