Murphy, a Fianna Fail Senator since 2020, previously served as a TD from 2016-2020. He resigned from the party after it selected former IMO president Dr Martin Daly as the party’s candidate. He was also involved as the producer and presenter with local radio stations Shannonside and Northern Sound. Murphy was a member of Roscommon County Council from 1985-2016.
