Major is a renewable energy engineer and community advocate from Ennis. A former resident of direct provision, she has been living in Clare for 20 years. Her priorities are to ensure taxpayer money is used responsibility, to tackle the housing and healthcare crises, and to improve transport infrastructure.

I am not one to sit and complain without trying to get solutions, I understand first-hand the struggles faced by ordinary citizens and I believes a new, younger perspective is needed in government - one that will listen, advocate for real change, and restore trust in public service.

For too long, we’ve witnessed a lack of accountability from leadership, with taxpayer money mismanaged on projects that don't address our most urgent needs. This is happening at a time when the country is facing a severe housing crisis, a healthcare system stretched to its limits, overcrowded hospitals, a shortage of critical childcare facilities, and the unfortunate closures of many local businesses. We need leaders that understands what people are going through and are willing to act on it.

The housing crisis. There is a severe shortage of affordable housing, leading to high rents, limited property availability, and increased homelessness.

There are others too: the healthcare system struggles with long waiting times, overcrowded emergency departments, and access issues, especially in rural areas. Rising costs for basics like food, fuel, and electricity have put a strain on household finances, impacting quality of life. Many want government action on controlling energy prices, increasing subsidies for vulnerable populations, and supporting wage growth to keep pace.Mental health services are under-resourced, with long waits for support and a lack of adequate facilities. Public transport is often limited or unreliable, particularly in rural areas, affecting people’s ability to commute, access services, and connect with urban centres.

Reform in our healthcare system, including the restoration of the Emergency Department in the Midwest Hospital and the upgrade of Ennis Hospital to model three status.
