I have been a Labour Party member for 30 years. I believe in equality for all people, for everyone who calls Ireland home - whether they were born here or not. I want to make this country a place where people want to stay and live and work, where they can afford to live and where they can enjoy that life. The Labour Party offers the best chance to make these things happen - and I am running to make this happen.
The lack of affordable housing and affordable rents is the greatest issue that this country faces. It has follow on effects on staffing in health and education. We cannot offer the children of this country a place to live and a place to thrive. We need to get the state building homes, like it used to do. This offers the best route out of the crisis we are in now.
I would speak about the vulnerable young people of Ireland. I would speak about the lack of special needs assistants and teachers in schools. I would speak about better playgrounds and sports grounds. And I would speak about our young people like they are the most important people in our communities.
