What You Don't See Here: Christine shares the reality behind this sweet snap - cheeky guide dog and all

‘I think it just shows the love between Clover and Caoimhe so well.’

This week, Christine Moore filled us in on what’s happening behind the scenes in a picture of her daughter Caoimhe and dog Clover.

Tell us a bit about this photo. What inspired you to take it?

It’s of our daughter Caoimhe and my partner’s guide dog, Clover. It was taken in June, when Caoimhe was eight-months-old, on our first holiday away as a family. Ironically, the holiday was in Cork, where Clover was trained.

What’s one thing that’s going on in this photo that you wouldn’t know from looking at it?

You wouldn’t know that Clover, as a guide dog, is supposed to be lying on the floor. He doesn’t get fed from the table but, ever the opportunist, he’s hoping Caoimhe will oblige with a sticky hand, which she often does. Now Caoimhe’s graduated to a high chair, Clover has taken up residence under it at meal times.

Did it take many attempts to get the right shot?

I took about three shots of them on my phone at the restaurant.  They’re all pretty similar and have a bit too much light, but this one captured the friendship growing between them.

What do you love about this photo?

I love the expressions on both their faces. Caoimhe is a very happy baby and I love capturing the moments when she interacts with our pets. She is fascinated by them.

Was there any editing done to the photo before it was posted?

I’ve just cropped the photo to hide the mountain of wipes, used napkins and general mess that accompanies every meal.

How well does this photo reflect your family life in general?

Clover has been so gentle with Caoimhe from the start, lying beside the pram when she was a newborn and giving her a lick when he gets a chance!

Do you have a family photo from Instagram with a great behind-the-scenes story?
