A BODY DISCOVERED in Ennis, Co Clare last night is thought to be that of a man reported missing two weeks ago.
The grim find was made around 7pm at a house on the town’s Lifford Road. According to the Irish Daily Mirror (print edition only), the body was in the toilet of the home. There are no details of how he died or whether foul play was involved, but a post mortem is due to take place at 1pm today.
It is thought the dead man is local Francis Hassett, 25, who was last seen alive nearly three weeks ago. He was reported missing by his family on June 20 and several searches were carried out after it emerged he had not collected his social welfare payment and medical prescription. However, the identity of the body has not yet been confirmed.
RTE reports that the Deputy State Pathologist Dr Michael Curtis attended the scene last night before the body was taken to Limerick’s Mid Western Regional Hospital.
