A CORONER AT THE inquest of a teenage girl has criticised the behaviour of some people who photographed her dying. Robin Nixon, 15, died after she jumped from a multi-storey car park in Dorset on 11 April, 2010.
The inquest heard that Nixon had suffered from psychological bullying for over a year, and had recently broken up with her boyfriend of seven months.
She spoke to her ex-boyfriend on telephone on the day of her death, and he had walked to the car park as he was concerned for her safety. However, very shortly after he arrived she stepped off of the building.
The coroner praised members of the public who had tried to help Nixon, but said that others had acted “in a shabby way” by photographing the girl on their mobile phones.
He said: ”This was a child’s life and you were taking photos on your mobile phones.”
Nixon’s parents have spoken of their disgust at discovering people took photographs of their daughter dying. They also spoke out against the bullies who had targeted Robyn with online abuse.
