Man due in court over 120k cocaine haul in Carlow

A MAN IN his 40s is due to appear before Kilkenny District Court this morning charged in connection with a seizure of cocaine in Carlow.

Gardaí seized cocaine worth an estimated €120,000 from two houses in Carlow during a search on Sunday. The search was part of an ongoing investigation into illegal drugs being sold and distributed in the south-east of the country.

A woman in her 30s who was also arrested in connection with the drugs seizure on Sunday was released yesterday morning.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

  • @Patrick Lyons: Ah yes, because the taking of psycho-active substances like tea, coffee, alcohol, tobacco, marijuana and ecstasy is exactly like murder or other offences against the person. Why trust one drug and not another? If alcohol came on the market today as a new drug it would be automatically classified as a poison and a class A substance but because of sociological mores in the Western world it is instead a social lubricant. You can blether all you want out of your self-righteous fundament about the crime associated with drug use but I think that people with your much vaunted ‘modicum of intelligence’ would probably find that a lot of the crime associated with controlled drugs is actually because of the criminalisation of users and the surrender of the market to criminals. And in any event most of the crime associated with ‘drug use’ is the kind of public order and domestic violence offences that are directly connected to alcohol, perfectly legal….Modicum of intelligence my arse, knee-jerk rightwing ignorance more like…
