GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED two men following the seizure of cocaine and cannabis with a street value of €1.2 million.

The drugs were seized when a vehicle was stopped and searched in the Slane area of Meath on Saturday.

Following searches and further investigations, two men in their 60s were arrested today and are currently being detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under section two of Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act. They can be detained for up to seven days.

The operation was carried out as part of ongoing investigations into organised crime groups operating in west Dublin and Meath.

Gardaí from the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Special Crime Task Force were involved in the operation, assisted by other specialist garda units from the Dublin Metropolitan Region and Revenue customs officers.

Gardaí said they received “invaluable assistance” from Revenue’s customs officers at Dublin Port, noting: “The use of their scanning system was crucial to the detection of this offence and the subsequent arrests.”
