Gardaí seize drugs after stopping car on Dublin street

Two men were arrested after cannabis worth €25,000 was found in a car on the Rathgar Road in Dublin.

GARDAÍ HAVE SEIZED a large quantity of drugs after stopping and searching a car on a Dublin street.

The vehicle was detained on the Rathgar Road on Dublin’s southside at around 5pm last night as part of a Garda drugs operation. Two occupants of the car, both of them men in their 20s, were searched and some cannabis herb was found.

Gardáí became suspicious and the car was brought to nearby Terenure Garda Station where a full search was carried out and cannabis worth an estimated €25,000 was found in the car.

As part of a follow-up operation, Gardaí then searched two houses in undisclosed locations in Dublin and found cannabis, ecstasy, cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

The two men were arrested and detained at Terenure Garda Station and have since been released. A file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
