TODAY IS SET to be the hottest day of the year so far and we’re being urged to dump the car and get on our bikes.

The Dublin Lunchtime City Cycle is on today at Grand Canal Square.

Over 1,000 cyclists are expected to take part in the leisurely cycle around the city.

Cyclists will depart Grand Canal Square at 1pm and return at roughly 1.30pm.

It’s also a day to get your creative juices flowing with a fancy dress competition and a best dressed helmet competition.

The Lord Mayor of Dublin, Christy Burke will be among those at the event which is being organised by Dublin City Council.
