A busy day: Dublin Fire Brigade battles blazes in Shankill and Rush

Firefighters responded to major blazes at either end of the county yesterday.

FIREFIGHTERS IN DUBLIN had to deal with large scale blazes at opposite ends of the county yesterday – at two derelict buildings in Shankill and Rush.

Units from Skerries, Balbriggan and Swords were sent to deal with a fire at large house in the north Dublin town of Rush.

On the southside, units from Dun Laoghaire, Donnybrook and Nutgrove were called out to respond to a fire at a large house in the suburb of Shankill.

Both were brought under control last night.

There are no reports of injuries from either fire. Gardaí said both buildings were derelict.
