  • It would have so many benefits to legalize ,all those cops doing undercover work ,paperwork etc could be out tackling real drug crime.the only people being harmed by weed are the slaves being forced to run the grow houses,we owe it to them to legalize!the negative side of this drug is completely created by its prohibition,I get worse side affects every morning by not having my coffee quick enough.the tax argument is justification enough, but did you know per acre you get about triple the productivity for paper compared to wood!,we really need this silly ,divisive ,inherited legislation quashed!!

  • Waste of valuable court time on a plant.

  • The war on drugs is false flag contrived by the CIA to fund black ops and have cash to pay off “terrorists”. Big Pharma lobby to keep cannabis illegal so they can peddle their sativex a prescription drug derived from cannabis, they couldn’t make a penny if you were growing it in your garden

  • If we had a vote tomorrow it would be legal but we haven’t yet adopted the Swiss system where people power change laws directly

  • More gardi and court time wasted… If you want to stop cannabis funding organised crime, why not legalise it? Then you wont have to spend countless man hours finding and disposing of these plants.

    • Cigarettes are legal and organized crime still make massive money smuggling them. People don’t like paying tax and with the large tax rate that gets thrown around when people talk about legalizing weed there will still be a big incentive to not buy it from legal sources.

There will be no incentive to buy from illegal sources. Cigarettes are a different story. you pay nearly 10 euro for 25 grms of tobacco in ireland . In spain you get 50 grms for 5. 45 euro ( 6.70 in touristy places). at least a third of the price here. Thats why there is illegal trade in cigarettes.

Cannabis is a completely different story. You go to a licensed coffeshop/pub and buy your cannabis knowing it is not adulterated with silicon or glass or iron filings. you will know the strain, strength , wether its indica or sativa. % thc and % cbd .

With criminal gangs cannabis you haven’t a bulls notion what it is, whats in it or where it came from you just have to take what they offer.

People can brew their own wine and beer at home and yet everyone goes to pubs and off licenses. There might be the odd poitin still down the country but definitely no big time black market. because the government hasn’t created one.

But there is a big black market in cigarettes and cannabis worth over 500 million a year profit to criminal gangs . why? Because the government has created one by its laws and actions.

The journal censors pinged my comment.
And I even used PC language deliberately like ‘foreign nationals’ so it wouldn’t upset the censors

  • Many benefits to legalising cannabis absolutely no benefit in keeping it illegal except to the Garda in overtime and keeping them in a job.

  • For all you legalisers out there can you tell me one country where it is legal to grow Marijuana? And don’t say Holland or Portugal because its not legal to grow it. And why is it not legal if its such a harmless narcotic?

    • I don’t know that it’s legal to grow your own anywhere ,I think this might be because allowing people to grow their own would take control away from governments and there would be no avenues for revenue from its legality ,also there would be no regulation on quality control and people would be killing themselves from over fertilizing and poor flushing of said chemicals.can I use the comparison of letting people make their own booze, governments would be permitting people to do what they like and there would be numerous alcohol poisoning with the expense to rehabilitate folks after drinking their own 150 proof hooch falling back on society.im pro legalization and regulation ,this would be the only way a permanent reversal of prohibition would work.basically what I’m saying is exemptions on growing your own would have too many opportunities for black marketeers and also would heighten the chance of people hurting them selves, hope I’ve answered your questions.

    • You can legally grow 6 plants a yr in holland , they have to be grown in natural light . I lived there from 2001 to 2005 I don’t think it’s changed since
