THIS WEEK WE are checking out a car air mattress that will turn almost any passenger car into a comfy bed. It is a little pricy at €87 – but still cheaper than a hotel room.
What is it?
It is a specially designed air mattress with a cut out to allow room for the centre console / transmission tunnel. It is made from PVC so it is easy to clean and waterproof.
The large mattress comes with two inflatable supports that go on the car floor underneath it. It also has an electric pump that plugs into a 12v socket – so you can inflate it wherever you are.
What does it do?
The mattress covers the whole back area of the car, from the back of the rear seats to the back of the front seats. Essentially, it extends the back seats so you have a larger sleeping area than just curling up on the seats.
The cut out for the centre console (theoretically) means the bed lies flat and snug making it more comfortable.

Why would I want it?
This is a great solution if you have a lot of people staying over and not enough room. It is preferable by far to sharing a room with your cousin who snores!
It could also be good for road trips and festivals – no more soggy tents – or those early morning fishing trips. Equally, it might suit long-distance drives so you can grab a quick nap in comfort.

There are no reviews of this particular brand but reviews on Amazon of a very similar product are positive. User Frank L Foss was impressed, writing:
