HUNDREDS OF STAFF at Aviva insurance in Dublin, Cork and Galway will be told of planned redundancies today.
Management at the company is set to announce 850 redundancies and the outsourcing of 300 staff when it gives a business update to the 2,100 staff it employs in Ireland at 10am this morning.
It follows weeks of speculation that the insurance company was set to shed up to 1,000 jobs.
A union official told TheJournal.ie yesterday that he “couldn’t say what the content” of the meetings would be, meaning it is unclear what the timescale or terms of the redundancies are and whether they will be voluntary or compulsory.
It is expected that 300 staff in the life and pensions division will be outsourced but it is not known from where or to.
In slightly more positive news, RTÉ reports that 100 jobs in the health insurance division will be created over time.
