The Improvised Explosive Device was found outside a house in Firhouse in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

THE ARMY HAS made safe a viable explosive device found beside a car parked outside a house in Firhouse in Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

The Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found by Gardaí at the home in Carrigwood in Firhouse. An Army Bomb Disposal team arrived at the scene at 1.10am and people living in nearby houses were evacuated to a safe location.

A controlled explosion was carried out on the device. The remains of the IED were handed over to Gardaí to assist with the investigation.

The scene was declared safe at 3.10am.
